Muddy day in Whistler

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

It was a nasty cold day that didn’t belong to summer at all.  10˚C in the village, freezing and snowing at the Roundhouse.  Doesn’t seem to stop the mountain bikers in the Bike Park.

Another late night shoot.  I needed some tea to keep me awake while editing my most recent wedding images.

Rob grew a sunflower from a seed.  It is very root-bound and we were worrying that the fall would come before it had time to flower.  But it’s finally flowered!

Rob and I hiked the Chief in Squamish today.  As the sign says at the bottom, this is no walk in the park!  It’s only 600 metre elevation gain but it does it very, very steeply.  It’s like an hour long stair-master.  Worth it for the view from the top, though.

I was back in my usual role today for Elizabeth and Ollies’s wedding.   There was a  little time left before the ceremony and Ollie waits anxiously.

It was the weirdest thing – I went to a wedding as a guest only.  These cookies were made by the bride.

The mornings are beginning to feel like fall, and the air is crisp and clear.  What do spider’s do for food all winter?

This little girl was my neighbor.  She was at a birthday party at Meadow Park.  I managed to snap a few photos of her on the swings before she got distracted by birthday cake – who wouldn’t?

365 Project – Day 312

Today I was struck by the mood of this man, sitting on one of the many benches on Whistler’s busy Village Stroll.  There were smiling crowds all around him but he just sat.  Maybe he was tired, maybe he was meditating.  Either way, he certainly didn’t look like the normal tourist.

This goes to show that you should always have your camera with you – the rainbow over Whistler and Blackcomb mountains was only there for 5 minutes or so.  Something about rainbows that just makes you have to go and look at them.
