This is the first black bear I’ve seen this year as they come out of hibernation.  He was munching on the clover in my garden.  He looks quite small and was extremely skittish.  As soon as I clicked the lock on the patio door he looked up (I got the shot) and then he bolted.  (He could be a ‘she’ but I don’t know).

Today was a retro day:  24 of my work colleagues and I went snow-blading on Blackcomb Mountain.  As that is such a silly sport we all wore 70′s costumes.  My camera – a Canon A1 – matched the theme.  The only issue is that the film was old and none of the labs in town are capable of developing it!  So it’s taken until May 17th for me to post the photo.

This little dog wouldn’t come for a walk, nor would he let me catch him to take him home.  So I took photos of him instead!

This dog’s paw is lit by bouncing the flash off a white reflector.   The effect is to side light the paw and give more depth to the shadows and details to the hairs and texture of the foot.

During the WSSF there was a “Chairlift Review” – short plays – supposedly based on conversations on a chairlift.

During the Telus Ski and Snowboard Festival one whole day was dedicated to Whistler’s Dog Fest!  These dogs won the best dressed dogs award.

More walking in the woods. There’s always something interesting to take photos of.

The Vancouver Canucks swept a clean victory against the LA Kings today in game 5 of the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.  They now lead the series 3:2.  It must be because of our lucky neon sign!

I got to the pipe a little late, really and didn’t get as good a spot as I’ve had liked.  I do like this shot, however, just because it shows not just the crazy skier but also the spectators.  This was the finals of the WSSF Superpipe.
