This is a little pond next to the highway on my drive to work. I risked life and limb and got “slushed” walking along the narrow highway to get to a good spot. I’m glad I did, though, as the snow has all melted today.

What can I say? I was hung over. I’d been to work. It was late. I was tired. This is all I could manage.

A clutch of Olympic and Paralympic tickets
Living and working in Whistler has the added benefit of the “20 cm rule” – you can ditch work / turn up a little late if Mother Nature throws 20cm or more snow at you overnight. Today was one of those days. I had time for a couple of runs. It has to be said, though, that this late in the year the freezing level was quite high and the snow was wet and heavy: I had trouble turning and found that falling over sideways was my only means of stopping. I think this photo portrays that quite well.

This is the face of 30cms of white stuff!
Today was my turn to race the Peak to Valley. 5.5kms. 160 gates. Ruts the size of the moon! Ugly. My worst ski race ever. Rob did well though with a time of 7:02. We sat in the sun and had some drinks (honestly, there was sun!)

Rob and I celebrate our Peak to Valley finishes
This year I am taking part in a team race in Whistler, the famous “Peak to Valley” race: up to 180 GS gates over a 5.6km distance. This is my team mate Richard getting ready to race. I’m racing on Saturday.

Super busy today. Managed this shot of oil on water very late at night:

More signs of spring today amplified in it’s beauty with the use of a macro lens. View more macro shots here.

Spring is on it’s way in Whistler with tulips, daffodils and crocuses coming up.

Post Games blues was washed away with a helping of chocolate pudding with sauce today!

Mmmmm.......chocolate!
With a series of bangs that you could actually feel the Vancouver 2010 Paralympics came to an end. It has been quite a ride for the last 6 weeks, and the previous 7 years of anticipation. As I walked through town today and watched as they stripped away all the colourful wraps, and took down all of the staging, I felt a sense of loss. In addition, of course, a sense of achievement and pride. Wow!
