365 Project – Day 99

Saturday, January 23rd, 2010

Not much to say about this.  It’s the Whistler Blackcomb gondola building with all flags flying.  With the parent company up for bankruptcy or auction on February 19th (7 days into the Olympics) let’s hope they can keep the flags flying and the gondola running.

365 Project – Day 98 – Quatchi

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

Somewhat shocking to realize that my room mate bears a remarkable resemblance to the 2010 winter Olympic Games mascot Quatchi!

365 Project – Day 97

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

This is a tunnel under the women’s downhill ski course on Whistler Mountain.  It will allow skiers to pass under the course, keeping at least part of the ski runs open during the Olympics.

Heading to bed, realized I hadn’t take a shot yet.  Just before I cleaned my teeth.

365 Project – Day 95

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

This is Marvin, the dog from next door.  Very cute but hard to catch on ‘film’.  Bounced flash off the ceiling made it easier to shoot him where ever he was rather than trying to get him in the right place.

365 Project – Olympic Welcome

Monday, January 18th, 2010

Nothing says “Welcome” like security cameras and double, chain link fencing! This is a photograph of Whistler’s Tourism office. I hear that the athletes village is complete with the same but added razor wire. Nice. My love-hate relationship with the Olympic Games continues: I’ll be at the women’s downhill race with my Canadian jersey and cowbell!

365 Project – Day 93

Sunday, January 17th, 2010

I was going to ski today but with 25,000 skiers on the mountains I decided to go cross country skiing with Zeus instead.  This is a photograph the River of Golden Dreams reflected (refracted?) in droplets as they melted off the bridge along the trail.

If you look closely you can see the River of Golden Dreams.

365 Project – Day 92

Saturday, January 16th, 2010

Another 10pm shoot.  At this rate, by the end of my project there will hardly be an object in my home that hasn’t been the subject of a daily blog.  This one was tasty too!

Another late night shot - that I get to eat!

365 Project – Day 91 – Pianist

Friday, January 15th, 2010

In pursuit of today’s photo I came across this pianist practicing on the grand piano outside the Cinnamon Bear Bar in the Hilton (of all places!).  Although I asked if it was ok for me to take photographs I forgot to ask his name or where he was from.  He looked like a local (the way he was dressed), but I’m not sure.
