Tricia & Randy at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler

Tricia and Randy hadn’t been together for long – just 14 months but they told me that they instinctively knew that they were right for each other. And it showed! They chose to get married in one of the lovely penthouse suites at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler: A lovely intimate setting for their small wedding.

Seemed like everyone had a lovely time. Good luck to the happy couple!

Australian’s Neale & Shirley’s Whistler Wedding

Following a five week European back-packing tour this lovely, somewhat more elderly, Australian couple embraced their sense of adventure by ‘eloping’ in Whistler. Their friend Mary who lives in Vancouver helped them organize the wedding but then went off on her own adventure to India so couldn’t be at the wedding. By the time I met them they had been in Whistler less than 24 hours but their love story had already made them somewhat legends in the hotel. Not surprisingly they were lots of fun and obviously in love.

Fall Wedding on Nita Lake Dock

Alex and Jeb were up from Oregan and were lucky to get a dry day in one of the wettest falls I have known in Whistler. With just a small, intimate group the dock was a great location for their ceremony and portraits. Reverend William Roberts was lovely, connected with the couple and charming.

Jenni and Keith are a testament to love being out there for everyone, even if you have to go looking – They met through the “Plenty of Fish” web site! Vernon was Jenni’s home town and they couldn’t have chosen a nicer day, although it was hot – mid 30′s. I really don’t know how they managed to play basket ball!! Lots of fun. Congratulations!

Kent and Alanna chose Furry Creek Golf course as their wedding venue because they wanted an outdoor setting with stunning scenery. After a long, wet spring they were lucky enough to have one of the only sunny days so far this year. They made a stunning and happy couple supported by fantastic family and friends on both sides.

Jen & Jason’s Pemberton Wedding

Jen and Jason wanted as informal wedding as they possibly could and after an agonizing wait for the commissioner, it was probably the most casual and quick ceremonies I have ever seen. But that didn’t detract from a couple so obviously into each other.

The location well down the Pemberton Meadow’s Road was super rural and made for some great portraits. Here are a few of my favourites:

Maggie & Rob’s Vernon Wedding

Maggie and Rob were a sweet young couple who had been together more or less since they were just twelve years old. They were certainly game for a laugh too during the photo shoot – At one point the heaven’s opened with a torrential downpour, high winds and thunder but they weren’t phased at all. We made use of the time under the gazebo until the storm cleared.

Jan & Charmaine’s Kamloops Wedding

This fun-loving couple chose the garden of their ranch home, overlooking the Thompson River Valley just outside Kamloops, as the venue for their wedding. The weather was changeable which made for tricky photography – the best views requiring the couple to look directly at the sun. I managed to get some great shots anyway, particularly later in the afternoon when the sun finally broke through.

As Jan and Charmaine had met through work – he a truck driver and she a government inspector – we had a fun photo op next to Jan’s truck.

Michelle & Ken’s Wedding at Nita Lake Lodge

Michelle and Ken and their small party of guests were blessed with one of the only sunny, warm weekends that we’ve had so far in Whistler this year. The sunlight gave them halos and the new leaves on the trees added pretty framing for some of the shots. Of course, the dock at Nita Lake Lodge was also a great setting.

The officiant was Sharon Doiron, and the wedding was organized by Rachael at Sea to Sky Celebrations. The full album can be accessed from HERE but these are a few of my favourite shots:

Kristi & Drew at Nita Lake Lodge

Kristi and Drew were due to have a friend of theirs take photographs for them, but I was asked to attend anyway on behalf of Rachel at Sea to Sky Celebrations who had organized the wedding. Just as well as the photographer friend seemed to disappear!

With spring over a month late in Whistler this year, the couple were lucky to get a lovely day, not that it matters when they were so into each other! Also, Nita Lake Lodge offers such a great selection of indoor and outdoor / covered locations for portraits that it really doesn’t matter what the weather does.
